Convalescent Plasma - Information for Health Care Providers
Memorial Blood Centers (MBC) and Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) are now increasing the nation’s supply of convalescent plasma by collecting donations from those who have recovered from COVID-19. MBC and and NCBB will collect, process the plasma for infusion, and maintain a bank for hospitals to treat patients with serious or immediately life-threatening COVID-19 infections.
How to Order Convalescent Plasma:
- An interested physician must first make contact with their Blood Bank Medical Director.
- In order to transfuse the convalescent plasma, a hospital must participate in one of the IND pathways outlined by the FDA in order to obtain the COVID-19 convalescent plasma from a blood center. We recommend the Expanded Access Protocol from Mayo as the easiest way to treat multiple patients.
- MBC and NCBB contractual customers can order product directly by going to MBC BloodHub or NCBB BloodHub
- ISBT Codes: Please use the following product codes when ordering in BloodHub.
